About JEN

Jen Muranetz is a multi-dimensional journalist and digital storyteller residing on unceded Coast Salish territories (Vancouver, BC). She has more than seven years' experience producing, reporting, shooting, writing and editing videos for lifestyle news and broadcast. Her work has also been published and broadcasted in a range of outlets, including Shaw TV, VICE Canada, alive Magazine, Modern Agriculture, Zoomin.TV and Daily Hive (previously: Vancity Buzz).

Jen is currently a video journalist for Simon Fraser University, covering unique and innovative stories coming out of the University. She also freelances for video, print and documentary filmmaking projects. She recently directed and produced BETTER TOGETHER, a short documentary that delves into Vancouver’s collective housing subculture.

In 2014, Jen was nominated for a Leo Award for 'Best Screenwriting' in 'Information or Lifestyle Series' category for a story which aired on the program Open Doors on Shaw TV. She is an honours graduate from the Radio and Television Arts program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology.

Outside of media, Jen fosters cats through VOKRA, she is an active participant in Vancouver's collective housing community, and is part of the 30Network, a cohort of Vancouver's top 30 under 30 urban influencers on housing.
